The PhD at LTSU is a research-oriented doctoral degree aimed at cultivating deep expertise, original scholarship, and independent research capability in a variety of academic and applied fields. These programs generally span minimum 3 to maximum 6 years, depending on the pace of research and completion of milestones. Selection Process
Stage 1 – PhD Entrance Test
- Research methodology (50% weightage)
- Subject‑specific assessment (50% weightage)
Note: JRF/NET/GATE holders may be exempted from written exam as per UGC norms.
Stage 2 - Interview/viva-voce
- Merit list of selected candidates will be published based on the combined score of the entrance test and interview.
- Selected students to pay applicable balance programme fee
Once admitted, PhD scholars typically go through:
- Coursework (research methodology and specialised topics as per UGC norms).
- Research Phase with regular progress reviews.
- Publications - Publishing quality articles in peer-reviewed journals before thesis submission.
- Thesis Submission and Viva-Voce (an open defense before a panel).

- Registration Fee to be paid while completing the form and securing the admission : INR 35,000
- Registration fee includes application fees of INR 6000 which is non-refundable
- Thesis Evaluation & Viva Voce Fee will be additional as per applicable norms of the University and payable at the time of thesis presentation.
- The above-mentioned tuition fee is applicable for the programme duration of 3 years. Candidates who are unable to complete their PhD in 3 years may need to pay an extension fee per semester as applicable at the time.

- Selected candidate to remit the balance of Programme tuition fee (in full) immediately after result declaration of entrance examination.
